So this vehicle arrived at our shop and I think it was probably towed in, but it would barely move. Started up, try to move it around the parking lot. It would buck and kick and pop and had very distinct lack of power. We were able to move it around in and out of the shop, but I'm not sure if the it was actually driven to the shop. It ran very poorly. | Dec 26, 2022
This vehicle was brought into our shop. There's some clunking and clicking noises coming from the front suspension. So we did an inspection and found the front struts needed to be replaced. | Dec 19, 2022
When the vehicle was started up, after a short bit of time, there's a clicking noise coming from the heater area. It's like kind of click, click, click, click, click, it was driving the owner nuts, and that's what the vehicle was brought in for. | Dec 12, 2022
The vehicle came to our shop, towed in because it would barely accelerate. That was basically the client's concern, the car wouldn't accelerate. The check engine light was on. I believe he may have had it looked or there was a thought there was something wrong with the transmission because the engine seemed to run fine, but it just would barely move forward. It would move, but very minimally. | Dec 5, 2022
The check engine light was on in the vehicle, so the owner brought it in for us to figure out why that was happening. Running fine otherwise, but check engine light was on. | Nov 28, 2022
This vehicle had some oil leaks, not untypical for a BMW, leaking from the valve cover gasket area at least. Possibly a couple other spots. But the valve cover gasket was what we worked on this particular time. | Nov 21, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop with really no power brake assist. When you push the brake pedal to try to stop the truck it was really, really tough. So there was clearly an issue of what seemed to be with the power brake system. | Nov 14, 2022
The owner of the vehicle had brought it in with a complaint of some pretty severe vibrations in the vehicle. Mostly when the engine was running. Not so much driving, but with the engine running. So that was the complaint. And for something like this with a vibration, with the engine running, we kind of suspect engine mounts or some sort of drive train issue, maybe transmission or axle or something. | Nov 7, 2022
So the vehicle was in for maintenance service and we have a premium maintenance service that we offer for hybrids, which is either an A or B service. This one was here for a B. The B service is the larger service with the full inspection, wheels off brake inspection, lubricate door locks, hinges, latches, et cetera. Thorough inspection. But the premium part of it is that we use a fuel system and oil system cleaner in the process, it's a BG kit, three part kit that basically helps clean the engine a little more than just changing the oil. So that's our premium hybrid service. | Oct 31, 2022
We're gonna talk about replacing the diesel particulate filter today, but that wasn't the first reason the car came in. Essentially there was a warning light on the dash, I'm trying to think of the words exactly, but basically, it was something to the effect of diesel exhaust fluid contaminated. And then what happens is a timer comes on, you've gone only got certain number of kilometres to drive before the vehicle won't restart. | Oct 24, 2022
I think they're really reliable. I'd say they're definitely one of the better cars on the market for reliability, and they've improved at least from what I can see over the years, they keep improving and they're certainly not bulletproof, but they're definitely an excellent car. | Oct 17, 2023
We did a show about this one just recently. And this vehicle had a couple of issues actually. So the other issue was that the heater blower fan would come on when the key was off. And obviously that's not very good for the battery. It was kind of an intermittent issue. Sometimes would be on, sometimes would be off. And so that was basically the the task at hand. | Oct 11, 2022
This vehicle has the active body control system, otherwise known as ABC. And it's the hydraulic suspension system, which I think what makes this car kind of neat. And it's not entirely unique to this model of Mercedes, but a few different models have it. It's a pretty awesome system. The car always sits level. You can raise it a little bit if you need extra ground clearance. When you go around corners, the vehicle never leans, it just goes straight around the corner. When you hit the brakes, the car never dives. It's pretty awesome. So anyways what was sometimes happening with the vehicle is that the suspension would drop overnight and he'd find the front of the vehicle would be down. | Oct 3, 2022
So there's some ABS brake problems with this vehicle. The warning light was on, on the dash. And when you apply the brake, even to the lower speed, there would be like kind of a vibration in the vehicle like the ABS brakes were activating when there was no need for them to activate. So that's what we were tasked to fix on this vehicle. | Sept 26, 2022
When you go to turn the key to start this vehicle, it made the most horrific sound. I don't have a recording of the sound that would have been good. This was like a grinding, howling sound, I'd never heard anything like it in my life. It was pretty horrible. So definitely something was wrong with the starter. | Sept 23, 2022
This vehicle came to the shop with the radiator fan running full bore, and it would never shut off. So as you can imagine, the battery would be going dead fairly quickly. It's a high current draw type of circuit. So the fan was basically stuck on and that's what we were tasked to fix on this particular vehicle. | Sept 20, 2022
So this vehicle just limped into our shop. It wasn't running very well at all. Check engine light on and blinking, and just a very poor running. We found a number of misfire codes in a variety of different cylinders. | Aug 29, 2022
So this vehicle actually had a warning on the dash that says particulate filter plugged or change particulate filter. So it was pretty obvious right to the customer, that the unit was at the end of its service life and needed to be replaced. | Aug 22, 2022
So the car came to our shop. The owner's complaint was at he was on a trip to Osoyoos and it involves a pretty long highway drive, especially up hills. And when he hit the uphill portion, all of a sudden the vehicle had lost all its power and it was very sluggish. Anyways that was basically the complaint. Vehicle had lost power and the check engine light was on. | Aug 19, 2022
The customer's concern was the driver's power window was making loud noises and wouldn't move up properly. With power window issues, there are a number of things that can cause problems. | August 15, 2022
So this one came to our shop. The trunk lid was kind of half opened, held down with duct tape and the roof was kind of just partially opened. So the owner in the process of opening the roof, something broke and that's how we got the vehicle. So it was a roof problem. | August 3, 2022
So this vehicle came to our shop. The owner was concerned because there was a lot of blue smoke coming out the tailpipes. And I mean, a lot. This thing was like just huffing the blue smoke out the back. Really serious issue. And, you know, thought, okay, there's something major going on with this car. | July 29, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop with an exhaust leak issue. There was a ticking noise coming from under the vehicle. We found that there's a leak coming right from the exhaust manifold, where it bolts up to the cylinder head. And that is an integrated unit. It's the turbocharger and exhaust manifold all formed as one unit. | July 25, 2022
So the owner of this vehicle called me and stated that she had the vehicle at a shop that she'd been dealing with for quite a while. Not a full service kind of shop like us or let's put it this way, it's kind of a chain of shops. I don't wanna make any names. It's a, you know, nationwide chain of businesses that do a variety of work. She'd been dealing with them for a while, liked them, the vehicle wouldn't start. | July 18, 2022
The AC stopped working in this vehicle and the owner had actually come to us stating that he'd actually seen some oil dripping from underneath the middle of the car and he thought the evaporator might be gone. So obviously a knowledgeable client, with a bit of possible information for us. | July 11, 2022
The answer about EV brakes wearing out, is they do wear out, if you don't take care of them and service them. And that's what we're going to show you in this podcast. What was going on with this vehicle is that the brakes were making some noises. We did an inspection and found a couple of issues with the brakes. One of the rear brakes was kind of sticking when you turn the wheel, it was a little tight. They use drum brakes in the rear of these cars. And you could hear a scraping sound with the front brakes and they were rusted really badly. | June 16, 2022
This is a regular fleet client of ours and they noted that when they were driving it, there was a strange noise coming from underneath the vehicle. The first part of any diagnostic, like this is a road test and fortunately I picked this vehicle up from a considerable distance from our shop as part of the service we offer this client. So driving back it gave me some time to hear the noise. | June 13, 2022
So this vehicle came to our shop with some air conditioning concerns. The air conditioning wasn't working. And we'd previously repaired this vehicle a couple of times over the last few months. What we'd found previously was that there were some leaks from the Schrader valves where you fill the the fill ports. We basically charged it. Then you could see refrigerant leaking out. | June 6, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop with some coolant leaks. We found two leaks actually, one from the bottom of the radiator and one coming from the heater hoses, which are at the back of the engine. So two leaks to different parts of the vehicle. | May 30, 2022
The owner had found his air conditioning wasn't blowing cold air. So it was time to repair it. | May 13, 2022
So the vehicle was towed to our shop. The high voltage battery was not charging and not delivering any power. We hooked up a scan to a look at a few parameters at the battery module. There was a slew of stored trouble codes in the battery module, more basically related to communication within the battery module. And it didn't take too long to do some basic testing to find out the battery itself needed to be replaced. | May 9, 2022
So the owner had brought in his van to the shop and his main issue was that the vehicle wasn't charging sometimes. It was unreliable. He'd plug it in at night and come back the next morning, the vehicle wasn't charged, which is obviously not a great thing on an EV. | May 6, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop. The owner's complaint was there some vibrations when driving the vehicle. And so we proceeded to do some testing and diagnosis on that particular issue. | May 2, 2022
So the the owner of this vehicle, actually it's a company vehicle. Someone in the company had put the wrong fuel in the vehicle. It's a gasoline powered truck, 6.4 litre Hemi. They put diesel fuel into the gas tank. Not sure how they did that, but they did. And the vehicle was towed in, because it wouldn't run. | April 22,2022
This vehicle came to our shop with the engine running a bit rough and the check engine light was on. So we proceeded to do some diagnosis and repairs. | April 19, 2022
This van, it's a 3.6 litre, Pentastar engine, common in many Chrysler products. It's a 1500 series van, so it's a half ton van. What was going on is that the owner had complained that there was a ticking noise coming from the engine. Not prevalent when it was cold, but once the engine warmed up, there's a ticking noise coming from the engine. | April 11, 2022
This vehicle came to us originally for a couple of concerns. First of all, it's a big cube van and it barely run. Did some diagnosis, testing, found the FICM, the fuel injection control module was bad and replaced that. And then the vehicle ran quite well, but still had some transmission shifting issues. | April 4, 2022
The car was brought in originally due for a B service. So a full inspection, an oil change and the client's main concern was that the wipers weren't working properly. Either too slow or they were only working on one speed. That was the main concern but we found a few other things with this vehicle that were recommended, not severe, but certainly recommended to do. | March 28, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop primarily with a concern that the radiator fan would run randomly at any sort of time, like especially when the key was off and it would kill the battery, which is not a good thing. And the owner had previously taken it to another shop, had a number of repairs done, but they weren't able to successfully repair it. So he brought it to us to do it and I'm happy to say we did a great job with it. | March 21, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop with a couple of concerns, but one of them was there was coolant leaking from the engine. Did our usual diagnostics and testing, a pressure test, visual inspection, and found the water pump actually had a leak, as well as there was a leak somewhere else under the intake manifold area. | March 17, 2022
This Porsche had the classic coolant leak. I say the classic coolant leak. There's some coolant pipes that run underneath the intake manifold. Made of plastic. Just absolutely brilliant design and they were leaking. We've seen this issue for years and years. Surprising to still see it occurring. This vehicle is actually a regular client of ours, pretty low mileage vehicle. It's finally started leaking after how many years. So that's basically what was going on. There's a bit of diagnosis of course to start with, but that's what we found. | March 14, 2022
So the vehicle came in for service, but the owner had one issue with the air suspension system and the suspension system in the left front corner of the vehicle would drop down if the vehicle was left for a little while. So that was the main reason it was brought in and what we looked at. | March 7, 2022
The owner had been to another shop, had some repairs done and he kept having his check engine light come back on for a lean air fuel condition code. That's basically what we found. | Feb 28, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop for a maintenance service and the owner had some concerns about the brakes and figured they needed to be replaced. | Feb 22, 2022
So the vehicle came to our shop, the client's complaint was that the rear end of the vehicle would sit low. If he leaved it overnight, the vehicle would drop and he'd come back to a low sitting vehicle. That was the initial issue. | Feb 14, 2022
The vehicle was towed to our shop. It wouldn't start. It's been cold in Vancouver for awhile. The owner went out to start the vehicle and it wouldn't crank over. Nothing happened when he turned the key. | Feb 10, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop for a B service, a maintenance service which is due. We should probably about once a year on a vehicle of this age. For this service, there's an oil change, a full vehicle inspection and little things like lubricating door locks, hinges and latches, we do as part of the B service. But it's basically a full look at the brakes, take the wheels off, rotate tires if possible and necessary because it depends on the vehicle. And look at all the fluids, test the battery charging system. Do a good thorough suspension inspection. | Feb 7, 2022
The vehicle was towed to our shop. The owner was driving and hit a puddle, water got sucked into the engine and seized the engine up and it needed to be replaced. | Feb 3, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop needing an alternator replacement. We have a battery alternator starter tester, and like an AVR tester. We hook it up. And the first thing to test when there are any charging system issues is to make sure the battery is in good shape. So it tests the battery first, then the alternator, tests for the voltage output, the current output, and it also tests the diodes and components in the alternator. | Jan 31, 2022
So the owner of this vehicle had driven it, hit a pothole fairly hard. And I guess the vehicle didn't quite feel right. So he took it to the dealer. They did an alignment and inspection, rebalanced the wheels and he still didn't feel it was right. So he brought it to us for a second opinion. | Jan 27, 2022
So this vehicle is a regular client of ours came to our shop for a B service and just a refresher on the B service. If you've watched our podcasts, it's basically an oil and filter change along with a very detailed inspection. Something you should probably do on a yearly basis on any car that's more than a couple of years old. And you know, we look at the brakes, the steering suspension, all the fluids in great detail. It's a thorough inspection. Test the battery, charging system, cooling system. Preventative maintenance is what it's all about and safety. | Jan 26, 2022
This is vehicle came to our shop on a recommendation by a friend who was concerned because the engine was making some noises and when he checked his oil and found that it was not reading, it was really low. So that was a concern we were dealing with. | Jan 20, 2022
The owner came to our shop. The car had sprung a coolant leak. The engine was running a little hot and that's why the car came in. | Jan 17, 2022
This vehicle came to our shop for a general look over. It had a few concerns of which we repaired and there was a leaking valve cover gasket, but it wasn't too severe when we looked at it. And based on the cost of the other items that were needed to be repaired, the owner, you know, we sort of made an agreement, hey, let's not fix the valve cover right now we can leave that until a later time. So we did all the other work, left the valve cover gasket alone and went out for a road test and the vehicle wasn't running too well. | Jan 11, 2022
The owner brought the vehicle in, it was due for service and also noticed a noise when she was driving the vehicle that sounded kind of like a jet taking off. It would happen as you start moving faster. | Jan 3, 2022 |
