So the owner of the vehicle called us. His issue was that he was driving down the road, the engine stopped running, just died. And we booked the appointment. He towed in and we diagnosed the issue. | Nov 18, 2024
The owner was hearing a metallic clunking and grinding from the left rear, especially when turning. The vehicle had actually been at a Chrysler dealer for a couple of months. They looked at the vehicle. They replaced the left rear axle shaft, figured that was the problem. Didn't help. There were some other links replaced in the rear suspension. That didn't help the issue. When we took everything apart and looked at it, it looked like the left rear brake backing plate had been replaced where the parking brake was. And the first thing we noticed was that the lower parking brake shoe had basically broken apart. | Nov 11, 2024
The client brought the vehicle in to us. He suspected there was something wrong with the engine mounts from having done some research, but that vehicle really felt when you drove it, like it might have a misfire. There was something off when you accelerate in the vehicle. So we did a diagnostic on it and confirmed after verifying there was no other issues, that the engine mounts in fact were bad. | Nov 4, 2024
The vehicle came to our shop, there was a ticking sound coming from the engine. We looked at it and found it was an exhaust leak from the rear of the left exhaust manifold where it bolts under the cylinder head. So we proceeded to authorize the job and then proceeded to take everything apart. We found some interesting things and an interesting repair solution. | Oct 21, 2024
The vehicle came to our shop with a couple of concerns and one thing we found in doing our complimentary inspection on the vehicle is that the engine oil was incredibly sludgy. When we removed the oil filler cap we noted that there was an incredible amount of sludge on the oil filler cap, which is not a good thing. There was also no record or window sticker on the vehicle. And talked with the client and they indicated the oil hadn't been changed in quite a long time. They probably didn't really know exactly when it had been done. | Oct 15, 2024
So the vehicle came to the shop. The complaint was that the back end would drop down occasionally and there was some warning lights on the dash for the suspension system. | Oct 7, 2024
So the vehicle came to our shop for a maintenance service and there was a complaint of a check engine light on. I believe the owner, possibly had the vehicle scanned because he seemed to think one of the oxygen sensors needed to be replaced. So we did our A level maintenance service, which is an oil change and a basic inspection along with a diagnostic to verify his check engine light concern. | Sept 23, 2024
This vehicle came to our shop, actually was towed in because it wouldn't start. When you turn the key, the starter would just make some sort of grindy, whirring type of noise. The engine wouldn't turn over. So there was clearly a problem with the starting system. | Sept 16, 2024
This vehicle came to our shop with a coolant leak. We did a diagnostic on it, which includes a pressure test, visual inspection, and found that the radiator was leaking. So we then proceeded to replace the radiator. | Sept 9, 2024
The owner had complained there's a rattling noise in the engine on startup and the check engine light was on. She actually had another mechanic shop look at it and they figured maybe it might need a timing chain. It was beyond the scope of the work they wanted to do. The owner brought it to us for a second opinion and this is the kind of work we do. | Sept 2, 2024
So this vehicle came to our shop several months ago and had a brake warning light on the dash. We did our normal brake inspection. We found the front brake pads were worn out, causing the light to come on. The rear brakes had about three or four millimetres remaining. The customer chose not to have the rear brakes done at that time. So fast forward back to the present, the brake warning light came on again. We were quite sure the rear brakes would need to be done at this point. We did a basic inspection found that the rear brakes had now worn out to the point where the warning light was on. | Aug 26, 2024
The owner of this vehicle had a complaint with his steering. He'd taken it to the Tesla dealer who told him that the steering rack and pinion need to be replaced. It was an expensive job, and he wanted a second opinion on it because he wasn't too happy with the price. | Aug 19, 2024
This vehicle came to our shop with a concern of a noisy air conditioning system. When the owner turned the air conditioning on, there was a lot of racket coming from the system. Grinding, growling kind of noise coming from the system that was a little too loud to ignore. | Aug 13, 2024
The owner's complaint was when he'd start the car up in the morning for the first few seconds, there'd be a rattling sound coming from the engine that would stop and it was gone. There's something wrong when it rattles. There's a number of causes. Usually it's something to do with the timing chains or the variable valve timing or timing chain tensioner, a part that's worn out. So problems like that don't usually get better all by themselves. | July 8, 2024
So this vehicle came to our shop, no engine performance issues, but check engine light on and the owner was concerned about it. We scanned the vehicle and found two trouble codes stored. One was for a PCV system, that's a crankcase breather system, and the other is for an oil pump control valve issue. We always check for vehicle recalls, and in this case there was a recall for the PCV code that had not been carried out. So we referred the owner to go to Mercedes for the recall. | July 2, 2024
Our A service is a basic service, oil and filter change, basic maintenance inspection, looking under the hood, under the car, adjusting the tire pressures, checking the lights, et cetera. What was unique about this service is the owner had specified, I really want a Mercedes Benz genuine oil filter in this car. It was a good request because you know, why not put the OEM high quality parts in a car that's a high quality car already. So that was the unique feature of this service and why we're talking today. | June 24, 2024
The owner of this vehicle brought it to our shop. He had had the engine replaced recently with a used engine. The shop that did the job was no longer in business and there were some issues with it. The vehicle wasn't running well. The dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. Brought it to a couple other shops and they couldn't quite figure out what was going on. So they ended up bringing it to us for expert diagnosis and repairs. | June 17, 2024
This vehicle was towed to our shop. The engine wouldn't run. And we proceeded to do some diagnostic testing. The first part of the process is to obviously try to start the engine and to try to drive it if possible. We cranked the engine over. It wouldn't start, but it seemed to crank over normally. The next step is to hook up a scan tool, retrieve the stored codes from the engine module and we found many codes for valve timing. Something was going on with the timing chain. | June 10, 2024
This vehicle came to our shop the owner's complaint was that the vehicle would rev up in pretty well any gear and wouldn't go anywhere or would move very slowly. This is a rare model of a BMW 323 with a standard transmission. We work on a lot of these cars. It's the first one we've seen in a long time with a standard transmission and the clutch was slipping very badly. | May 27, 2024
So the client had complained about fluid leaking down around their kick panel area, which is the area where your left foot would be if you're in the driver's seat. And they'd had it repaired in the past for a, I would say known in the Jaguar circles, as a green shower leak. Basically the hydraulic hose that attached to the latch in the front will break and deteriorate over time and cause hydraulic fluid to leak down from the top above the dash and can result in a rather nasty shower of green hydraulic fluid. So this wasn't actually in that area, but it was basically a related type of leak. | May 24, 2024
So an A service is an oil and filter change along with a basic maintenance inspection. And our basic maintenance inspection would include a visual inspection of your tires, a look under the hood, a look under the car for fluid leaks. We look at fluid levels, we adjust the tire pressures, check your lights. We look at the air filter, if it's simple to access, some air filters are difficult to access. So there's an additional charge to do that. Those are basically the things we do. | May 20, 2024
So this vehicle was brought to our shop with the complaint of the check engine light on, blinking sometimes and the engine running rough. The blinking check engine light means that the engine is misfiring and can possibly damage the catalytic converter. So it's something to take extremely seriously. When you have a blinking check engine light, if you don't fix it immediately you're going to be replacing your catalytic converters at some point in time. | May 13, 2024
People will call us, my air conditioning is not working. How much do you charge to refill it? And the answer is we don't just refill your AC system. We need to test and diagnose it. Your air conditioning is a sealed system. There's a chemical gas, liquid chemical in the system, it's all sealed and if there's something wrong and the refrigerant has gone, there's a leak and it needs to be found. It's expensive to recharge a system properly, especially with some of the new refrigerants on the market, very, very expensive and time consuming. And so it's more worthwhile than ever to make sure you fix the problem before you just refill it. | May 6, 2024
If there is mold or mildew on the AC evaporator core, it can cause the car to have a musty, moldy smell. But there's a few things we can do to fix that. First of all we would inspect the cabin air filter and replace that if there's any amount of dirt on there .We have chemical treatments we can do where we can spray a spray through the vehicle. Clean that up. Or there's an ozone treatment machine that we have, which will usually solve that kind of issue. | Apr 29, 2024
So this vehicle came in with a warning light on the dash, not a check engine light, but a warning light, sort of top of the instrument cluster, the client was concerned about. The vehicle was working fine otherwise, but there was a concern about the light. | Apr 22, 2024
The owner had a complaint that the brakes didn't quite feel right and they were making a funny noise. And the noise was very interesting, actually something I'd never heard before. When you push the brake down, especially when the pedal is like sort of halfway down, it would make this weird moaning, groaning kind of sound and I could also hear a hiss from the power brake booster. So I figured everything was kind of all related to that particular issue. | Apr 15, 2024
The vehicle was brought to our shop. The owner's complaint was that there was a coolant leak and he was told the water pump was leaking. So that was the issue. | Apr 8, 2024
The client's concern was that sometimes he couldn't shift the gear shifter properly or there would be some strange goings on with the indicator on the dash. That was basically the concern. So, of course, if you can't get out of gear or you can't shift it back and forth, that's the problem because you can't go anywhere. | Apr 1, 2024
The vehicle actually came to us for a B service. Our B service is an oil change and a full vehicle inspection, which includes inspecting the brakes, steering suspension, fluids, belts, hoses you know, a really good thorough look over of the car. Which you should do pretty much on an annual basis with any car once it gets on in a few years in age. Of which this car qualifies at this point. As part of the inspection, we found that the brakes were quite badly worn. | Mar 25, 2024
Some of us might be familiar with it. If we've ever seen the flashing red and blue lights behind us, a 2013 Dodge Charger. This vehicle came to our shop, not owned by the police, by the way, but same kind of car, came to us with a power steering issue. Sometimes the steering would be stiff to turn in one direction, especially more noticeable at lower speeds. | Mar 18, 2024
This vehicle had been bought by someone who was actually in the business of flipping EVs, buying and selling, and he picked this Fiat up at an auction. Basically the high voltage battery was weak. The vehicle wouldn't start or charge. And he figured that it needed to be recharged like special recharge. We have equipment and we're kind of known for having special equipment that we can recharge EV and hybrid batteries. So he brought the vehicle into us with the idea that we would be removing the battery, dismantling it partially and charging the cells. But when we got into it, we found something a little different. | Mar 11, 2024
The vehicle came to our shop. The owner's complaint was there was a warning light on the dash and also the brake pedal was exceptionally hard to push. It felt like there was no power assist to the brakes. That was the complaint that we were challenged with fixing. | Mar 4, 2024
This vehicle came to our shop with a check engine light on. It wasn't performing quite up to snuff. So the customer wanted to have us look at it and do some repairs. We did a complete vehicle code scan and found in the engine module there's two codes related to the intake runner system performance. | Feb 26, 2024
The owner brought the vehicle to our shop, said the clutch didn't feel very good. Thought it was probably worn out. It was slipping basically is what was happening. So that's what we were tasked to look at. | Feb 23, 2024
So the owner had noticed that his coolant was disappearing, but also he noticed that his oil had actually gone all milky. And I think there was a couple of other concerns. It was actually some cold weather, it may have frozen his crankcase. I'm not sure if that was actually the situation, but nonetheless, he was losing coolant and his engine oil had gone all milky. So obviously the coolant had got into the engine oil and needed to be addressed and fixed. | Feb 19, 2024
The vehicle came to our shop. Wasn't running. It had been at the Audi dealership. They'd looked at a few things, had a thought that it might need a high pressure fuel pump, for whatever reason, the customer didn't want to deal with them anymore and brought it to us to look at. So to kind of make a long story short, we did some testing, diagnosis. We determined that the high pressure fuel pump was in fact bad. We replaced that vehicle. Would almost start, but still wouldn't start | Feb 12, 2024
So this vehicle had a couple of issues, both the rear doors were having issues opening. Sometimes they'd open, sometimes they wouldn't. That was a customer's complaint. Front doors are fine. Actually had an issue with the tailgate as well but that was a completely separate issue, not part of the podcast. So there's a five door vehicle with three malfunctioning doors. | Feb 5, 2024
So the owner's complaint was that the power steering, it wasn't working properly. It was stiff and hard to turn. So there's a power steering complaint is why the vehicle came in. | Jan 29, 2024
So this vehicle visited our shop a couple of times, had some codes related to the diesel particulate filter, EGR flow. But over a course of a few months, we replaced a couple of temperature sensors that weren't reading properly. Issue was fixed for a while, then came back with a lot of the issues we'd done we'd sorted out, but there's still a further issue. And there was one with an EGR flow code and then another for DPF related code. | Jan 23, 2024
The vehicle came to our shop with a couple of issues. One of them being a very severe clunking sound when you made turns. It's a very sharp clicking sound, pretty distinctive CV joint kind of noise. But very loud and noticeable. Actually, this one was so bad, you almost didn't need to make a turn when you accelerate. | Jan 15, 2024 |
